About

Catherine, Princess of Wales is a member of the British royal family. Her husband Prince William, Prince of Wales, is the heir apparent to the the British throne. Their three children Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis are second, third, and fourth in the line of succession. Catherine has patronage within over 20 charitable and military organizations with her charity work focusing on issues related to young children, mental health, sport, addiction, and art.

Timeline

  • 1982: Catherine Elizabeth Middleton is born at Royal Berkshire Hospital to Michael and Carole Middleton.
  • 1984: Catherine and her family move to Amman in Jordan. When she is three years old, she starts attending nursery school.
  • 1986: Catherine and her family move back to England in West Berkshire. She starts attending St. Andrew's School near Pangbourne.
  • 1995: Catherine leaves St. Andrew's School and begins attending Malborough College in Wiltshire.
  • 2000: Catherine finishes school at Marlborough College. She takes a gap year by participating in various activities around the world.
  • 2001: Catherine enrolls at University of St. Andrews in Scotland studying art history. She meets Prince William, who is also attending St. Andrews.
  • 2005: Catherine graduates from St. Andrews. She starts helping her parents with their company Party Pieces.
  • 2006: Catherine begins working at Jigsaw Junior as a part time buyer.
  • 2007: Catherine leaves Jigsaw Junior. She briefly splits up from Prince William, but the two reconcile a short time later.
  • 2008: Catherine helps her parents launch First Birthdays, a junior brand of Party Pieces.
  • 2010: Catherine and Prince William become engaged while on vacation in Kenya. They formallly announce the engagement to the public a month later.
  • 2011: Catherine leaves Party Pieces and begins carrying out her first public engagements alongside Prince William. The two marry April 29 at Westminister Abbey. Following the wedding, Catherine accompanies her husband on their first royal tour to Canada.
  • 2012: Catherine and William complete their second royal tour to Singapore, Malaysia, Tuvalu, and Solomon Islands. At the end of the year, Clarence House formally announces Catherine's pregnancy with her first child.
  • 2013: Catherine and William welcome Prince George at St. Mary's Hospital in London.
  • 2014: Catherine and William complete their third royal tour to Australia. In September, Clarence House formally announces Catherine's second pregnancy. They do a short royal tour in New York in December.
  • 2015: Catherine and William welcome Princess Charlotte at St. Mary's Hospital in London. In December 2015, Prince Philip formally hands over patronage of RAF Cadets to Catherine.
  • 2016: Catherine serves as a guest editor for Huffington Post UK in February to launch Young Minds Matter initiative. In April, she and Prince William complete their fourth royal tour to India and Bhutan.
  • 2017: Catherine completes her first solo trip to Luxembourg City in May. In July, she and Prince William complete their fifth royal tour to Poland and Germany. Clarence House formally announces Catherine's third pregnancy in September.
  • 2018: Catherine and Prince William visit Sweden and Norway in January. In April, the couple welcomes Prince Louis at St. Mary's Hospital. Catherine becomes patron of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists as well as the first royal patron of the Victoria and Albert Museum.
  • 2019: Catherine collaborates with the Royal Horticultural Society to co-design "Back to Nature Garden" display for the Chelsea Flower Show. She succeeds the Queen as patron for the Royal Photographic Society and Family Action.
  • 2020: In January, Catherine participates in an exhibition to mark the 75th anniversary to the end of the Holocaust. In May, she launched "Hold Still" project to capture people's lives during the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • 2021: Catherine hosts the first Christmas carol concert at Westminister Abbey.
  • 2022: Catherine becomes the Princess of Wales following King Charles III's ascension to the throne.
  • 2023: Catherine launches the Shaping Us initiative through the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood in January. In November, she delivered the keynote speech for early childhood development.
  • 2024: Kensington Palace announces Catherine had undergone a planned abdominal surgery in January. In March, Catherine reveals the post-operative tests found cancer. She completes chemotherapy from February to September.
  • 2025: Catherine confirms her cancer is in remission. She launches a seasonal video series Mother Nature that highlights nature's role in mental well-being.
