About

Catherine, Princess of Wales is a member of the British royal family. Her husband (Prince William, Prince of Wales) is first in the line of succession for the British throne while their three children (Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis) are second, third, and fourth in the line of succession. Catherine has patronage within over 20 charitable and military organizations with her charity work focusing on issues related to young children, mental health, sport, addiction, and art.

  • 1982: Catherine Elizabeth Middleton is born at Royal Berkshire Hospital to Michael and Carole Middleton.
  • 1984: The Middletons move to Amman in Jordan. Catherine starts attending nursery school.
  • 1986: The Middletons move back to West Berkshire in England. Catherine starts attending St. Andrew's School near Pangbourne.
  • 1995: The Middletons move to Bucklebury. Catherine studies at Downe House School and begins attending Malborough College in Wiltshire.
  • 2000: Catherine graduates from Marlborough College. She takes a gap year in Italy and Chile.
  • 2001: Catherine enrolls at University of St. Andrews in Scotland studying art history. She meets Prince William, who is also attending St. Andrews.
  • 2005: Catherine graduates from St. Andrews. She starts helping her parents with their company Party Pieces.

  • 2008: Catherine makes several trips to Naomi's House Hospice by bringing books and reading to children. She organizes a fundraiser for Oxford Children's Hospital and Place2Be. She helps her parents launch First Birthdays, a junior brand of Party Pieces. She meets Queen Elizabeth II at Peter Philips's wedding to Autumn Kelly.
  • 2010: Catherine and Prince William become engaged while on vacation in Kenya. They formallly announce the engagement to the public a month later.

Public Years

  • 2011: Catherine and William marry April 29 at Westminister Abbey. Queen Elizabeth II grants William the titles Duke of Cambridge, Earl of Strathearn, and Barron Carrickfergus,
    • Catherine leaves Party Pieces and begins carrying out first public engagements prior to the royal wedding.
    • Her first official royal engagement was meeting President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama at Buckingham Palace.
    • Catherine accompanies her husband on their first royal tour to Canada and a two day trip to California.
    • Catherine completes first solo engagement in October at the Kind Direct reception, stepping in for Prince Charles.
